Archaeologists just discovered a 2,000-year-old gold earring beneath a parking lot next to the walls of Jerusalem's old city. The earring is inlaid with pearls and emeralds and was made around the time of Christ, between the first century B.C. and the beginning of the fourth century A.D
Couldn't you see yourself wearing earrings like this? It's just timelessly beautiful!

That is gorgeous! The funny thing is that I really don't like gold jewelry but when I see ancient gold adornment, it just calls out to me. I want to hold it, wear it, put it in my mouth.

I think that must be because so much of our gold jewelry is mass produced or made to look "perfect" by craftspeople trying to compete with the mass produced look.

This piece is glorious and a little funky and has the 'fingerprints' of a real human artist all over it. Let's see some of that over at Etsy - maybe I'd think about buying some gold. :) (as if I could afford that!)
